Foreword

As I travel throughout our nation teaching from the Bible each week in many different churches and denominations, I am deeply concerned about the lack of power we are experiencing in the church today. And without the Holy Spirit, there is no spiritual power. It is grievous to me that so many churches from denominations and movements who were birthed in the work in the Holy Spirit seldom even speak of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, much less practice speaking in tongues and other vital spiritual gifts.

My friend, Paul Gustitus, issues a wake-up call for the church in America in this strategic book, The Father’s Promise. He takes us back to the basics of being baptized and filled with the third person of the Trinity—the precious Holy Spirit. This book gives us practical insights, based squarely on the scriptures, to help us and those whose lives we touch to experience the promise of the Father, the mighty baptism in the Holy Spirit.

I am so grateful to God that Paul has written this excellent book. Paul has a history of serving the Lord both in the marketplace and as a pastor. He has passed the test of time. He loves his wife Sue, his children, grandchildren and the believers in his local church: Indianapolis Christian Fellowship. He loves the body of Christ with its various expressions, and he serves as a mentor to pastors from many different backgrounds and persuasions. Paul is passionate about the Jesus whom he loves, and the Holy Spirit whom he has experienced.
